Ok, I have decided to go a little green with my wedding. Instead of renting real silverware I am using biodegradable cutlery. I found this amazing company located in Canada, Ecoware Biodegradable, that make biodegradable cutlery out of birch wood. Not only is the product environmentally friendly, but it is also cost friendly.

I am in desperate need of 3 drink dispensers. I need them to be 2+ gallons each. My mother found some at Dillard's a few weeks back, but they are only 1 gallon each. So, if anyone knows where I can buy them or have some for me to borrow, I would greatly appreciate it!!

Couples Shower

This weekend our wonderful friends hosted a shower for Ben and me. The weather was beautiful, the food was awesome, and the company was even better. Thanks friends!

Olivia is probably one of the best hostess I have ever met. She made the entire evening possible and did a wonderful job. Thanks Liv.

It's Official

Well, I officially feel like a bride. I had my first fitting today. I absolutely love my dress and I can not wait until I can show Ben. I hate keeping things from him, but this one will have to wait until May 2nd. Which by the way, is 43 days away. Everything seems to be coming together. Invitations have been mailed and we have received 4 responses already! Next week is our first shower, in which Ben and I are grateful to have wonderful friends throw it for us. THANK YOU FRIENDS. Oh, and the best part is, we have booked a HONEYMOON. We are traveling to Punta Mita, Mexico (Yes I have read all of the travel warnings). We will be staying at the gorgeous St. Regis. We will actually stay at two resorts while on our honeymoon. The first 4 nights will be at the St. Regis and the last 3 nights at a Palace Resort in Puerto Vallarta. The Palace Resort is an all inclusive, where as the St. Regis is pay as you go. Hope we are not getting in over our head too much by staying at a 5 star hotel. Needless to say we are very excited.

Best Man

I can not believe I forgot to highlight Drew as one of Ben's groomsmen. So, without further ado I present Mr. Drew Zinser. Drew is Ben's Best Friend and Best Man.
Drew and Ben went to high school together and were college roommates. Although Drew is not always around (he works all the damn time) he and Ben would drop anything to help one another out. Drew is married to the beautiful Lindsey who is also our good friend. Thank you Drew for being apart of our wedding day and I know Ben is excited to have you stand up with him.

Mason Jars

52 Days

52 Days and Counting. I can not believe I am already counting down the days. It will be here before I know it.

I had a very successful trip to Mobile this past Friday. Ben and I met with the florist and finalized our floral arrangements. We also met with Father Viscardi, the priest marrying us. He is such a sweet man and I am excited to have him marry me.

My mother and I finished stuffing wedding invitations and they are ready to be sealed, stamped and delivered.

Everything is slowly coming together. Getting excited for May 2nd!

Invitations are printed, being addressed and will be sent out within the week. I am very lucky to have had Rachel Dunagan create my absolutely beautiful invitations. She is such a talented graphic artist who is getting into the wedding invitations market.

Rehearsal Dinner

We have a location for the rehearsal dinner. I am so excited about the Ezell House. The courtyard is exactly what I had in mind. The Ezell House is typical Mobile architecture and I can not wait to celebrate with my friends and family there!!

Victor Russell

Last, but not least. I present Victor. He and Ben were college roomates, golf buddies and drinking buddies. Victor has got to be Ben's most handy friend. He is always working on something, be it his house, car, lawn mower, etc. Victor is currently employed on a oil rig out in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico. He is the only friend of Ben that would be able to handle a job out in the middle of the Gulf. He is a loving husband to Hilary who will travel all around the world with her! Thanks Victor for being a part of our wedding.

McClain Towery

The first time I met McClain was the same night that I met Ben. He happened to be in town visiting for a few days and hanging out with the guys downtown. I really did not get to know McClain until he moved to Nashville and met the love of his life Jacqueline. Over the past 3 years Ben and I have always enjoyed going to Nashville to visit with McClain and Jacqueline. At times we have had so much fun that we have contemplated moving to Nashville. McClain is a wonderful husband, a smart engineer, an early bird, a lover of red wine, an Auburn Tiger Fan and Mr Directions man. We are looking forward to celebrating our big day with McClain and Jacqueline.

Ben and I finally registered this past weekend. It was a lot more overwhelming than I thought it would be. We had a good time and registered for some great items. Of course Ben had complete control of the gun.

Your Wedding Checklist: Two to three months before your wedding____
Give a list of "Must Take" photographs to your wedding photographer____
Discuss your wedding menu with your caterer____
Meet with your officiant to discuss the wedding ceremony____
Attend any bridal showers____

Think about your hair and makeup - If you're doing your own, try out hairstyles, purchase any extra makeup, think about having a "makeover party" with your girlfriends.____
Book your hairstylist and/or makeup artist, if you're using them. Meet with each of them to experiment with styles and colors____

Bridesmaid Dress

It's official, the dresses are bought and paid for. I found my bridesmaid dresses at J Crew. I had two styles picked out and let the girls decide on which one they liked best. The color I chose is bright rhubarb. I am excited to have them picked out and purchased. J Crew is the way too go.

The Battle House Hotel

Engagement Party

This past weekend was our engagement party. We had an amazing time with our friends and family. Thanks to all of the hosts for giving us the party.

Sadly this is the only picture of Ben and I together all evening. We were both too busy being social butterflies. The girl in the picture is his cousin Julie. Ben and Julie grew up together and are more like brother and sister.

Matt is a new groom. He married a wonderful girl Amy in August. You see, Matt and Amy started dating 2 years after Ben and I and married before us. I must admit I did tell Ben that I better be engaged before Matt and Amy. They discussed and I was engaged 2 weeks prior to Matt.
Matt is one of Ben's funniest friends, a published author, bad with directions, and not just Ben's friend but mine too.

J.D. and Ben have just recently become great friends. You see, J.D. went to that "private school" and Ben went to that "public school". They knew each other in high school and hung out on occasions, but it was not until J.D. moved back to Huntsville after finishing Dental School that they became very close friends, and yes J.D. is a Doctor. Ben and J.D. have alot in common. For example both are very passionate about their football teams, love playing golf, both have a laid back personality, and both love their wife and fiance unconditionally.

I am excited to have J.D. and his wonderful wife in our lives.

The Story

The story of us on the road to becoming one began January 25, 2008. My dad was home from Iraq and he and my mom had gone to New Orleans for their (drum roll please) 40th wedding anniversary. Well, after New Orleans they were heading over to Katherine's house for a few days. My older sister was also heading to my sisters house for Mardi Gras. So, Ben and I thought we would head south to hangout with my family for the weekend.

On the drive down Ben said that he thought he would be a great idea if we stopped by Spring Hill College and take a picture of a landmark that way we could have a picture from SHC and Auburn. I was all for going by the campus (have i told you how much I adore my Alma mater??). We stop at Stewartfield house and I got out to take some pictures. Well, it was dusk and my photos were not turning out too great. When I got back in the car I said to Ben "too bad it's dark, I could not get any pictures. I love this house. When I was in school here people would get married here and we would sneak over and watch the reception." He said "lets go look inside, I have never seen it before." So we walk up to the big front porch and I peer in and try the door. I turned around to Ben to tell him the door was locked. That is when he had the "CARD". He gave me the card and told me to read it. Well, this card looked very familiar to me. This was the card that Ben had given me two years prior on our first Valentines Day. So, I start reading what Hallmark had written until Ben said, "no read what I wrote." That is when I noticed that the first letter of every sentence was highlighted. It spelled out JAMIE WILL YOU MARRY ME.

The crazy part is that had written that two years ago, but I never deciphered the hidden message. Of course he got down on one knee and pulled out my gorgeous engagement ring and I said YES!!!

The best part is I got to spend the evening with my family sans Carolyn's clan celebrating my engagement. How perfect!

Marriage Advice

I read a lot of wedding blogs. I read a lot of regular blogs too. Basically I am a bloghead. Anyways, on one of the blogs I was reading there was this small intimate wedding held outside. What attracted me to the wedding was the couples vows. They had their friends and family stand up alone or together and share what they have learned in their marriage. My favorite advice was given by this couples aunt. She said
"When you marry, you are very focused on each other, but as you raise children it’s easy to get tired and distracted. After our last child went to college, Johnny wrote that a good marriage is when the children have left and you look at each other and smile and say, “Now I remember why I married you so many years ago.”

I love the fact that they involved their friends and family in their wedding. What a great idea...
So, if you are married you better start thinking of advice :)
